Eyliyohu Hanovi segues nicely into Josh's performance of gospel great Mahalia Jackson's version of this well-known spiritual, which, in addition to its take on Moses on the rock, casts the prophet Elijah as a modern superhero who can make God reachable directly by telephone (not to mention the Peggy Lee "Fever" quote). Lorin (and many other Jewish-American students) sang this in his high school choir in the well-known setting by composer/arranger Jester Hairston.
