The music heard on this CD was first presented at the Berlin Jewish Museum in 2012, then on tour throughout Europe. "Rescued Treasure" was recorded live in concert in November 2015 in Berlin at the Gorki Theater Studio R. Apart from being a hotbed of theater creativity in today's Berlin, the Gorki Theater is also famous for housing the Berlin Sing-Akademie from 1827 to 1943 and for hosting many recordings in the first half of the 20th century, including smash hits by the likes of Marlene Dietrich.
"Rescued Treasure" is a musical treasure trove recovered from oblivion, restored to life, re-connected to its roots in early 20th century Berlin by a new generation of cosmopolitan, Berlin-based musicians. Entirely up-to-date. Completely alive.
